WC track competes at Heartland Conference; prepare for regional meet at LaRue

The Washington County track team competed in the Heartland Conference Meet at Taylor County High School on May 4.

In girls' competition, Moriah Hourigan placed fifth in the girls' 100-meter dash with a time of 14.26 seconds. She also came in fourth in the girls' 400-meter dash with a time of 1 minute and 15 seconds flat. Also in the 400, Madisen Phillips placed fifth, finishing at 1:16.14.

In the girls' 800-meter run, Phillips finished eighth, running a 3:16, while Katie Cambron ran a 3:55 for 11th place.

In the girls' 4x100 relay, Hourigan, along with Alexandria Yantis, Janna Mattingly and Gabby Cheser, combined to run a 56.76 for third place.

Yantis, Cheser and Mattingly teamed with Shay Yocum to place fourth in the 4x200 relay, finishing with a time of 1:59.61.

In the girls' long jump, Phillips flew 12 feet, 7 inches to take seventh place, while Kenya Turner followed in eighth place with a jump of 11- 10.
