The WCHS Commanderettes officially closed their season last week with the annual volleyball team banquet.
Several awards were handed out on the evening, including two WC juniors—Halie Browning and JoHanna Spalding—receiving Kentucky Volleyball Coaches Association All-State honors.
Browning was recognized as a second-team performer with Spalding being named as an Honorable Mention.
Head Coach Anne Mudd also announced the “4.0 Academic Awards,” given to the players that had sustained perfect GPAs at the time of the team’s final game of the year.
Among those who received this award were Jennifer Hamilton, Lakynn Hodgens, Jordan Wheatley, Madison White, Bethany Wheatley, Kate Seger, Olivia Kelly, Morgan Mann, Maddie Abell and Mackenzie Messer.
Several members of the Commanderettes also obtained individual team awards.
Hodgens took home the “Rookie Award,” with Mudd commending the freshman’s effort during this year’s district tournament.
Three players—White, Kelly and Messer—were honored with “Coaches Awards,” while senior Shae Lewis received the “Heart Award.”
And Browning and Spalding added to their KVCA All-State awards, snagging the “Most Improved Player Award” and the “Commanderette Award,” respectively.
