With the promotion of one local principal to Washington County’s central office to serve as superintendent, and another making a move to be superintendent in another school district, there are some vacant positions in local schools these days.
To fill those vacancies, new Superintendent of Washington County Schools Robin Cochran has announced how those spots will be filled, at least temporarily.
Amanda Mattingly, who was assistant principal at North Washington under Cochran, will now be interim principal. Filling the role of assistant principal will be two educators, Gayla Jenkins and Betty Montgomery.
Jenkins is a retired teacher and principal in the local school system, and will serve as a two-day per week interim assistant principal. Montgomery, a retired elementary principal from Boyle County schools, will serve as a three-day per week interim assistant principal.
At Washington County High School, principal Leon Smith has announced he will be taking a new position as superintendent of Russellville Schools. Filling his seat will be assistant principal Paul Terrell, who is now interim principal at the high school.
Newly hired assistant principal Dan Lockwood will be interim assistant principal in the position previously held by Terrell.
