The Willisburg Fire Department will be getting a new fire truck around the end of October or the beginning of November. The total cost is $184,585. A state loan will cover $75,000 while an additional $70,000 will be covered by a loan from the Kentucky Association of Counties. The Washington County fiscal court approved the loan from KACO at its Monday meeting. The remaining $39,585 will be paid by the fire department from funds on hand.

The newer 1995 model truck will replace the 1963 model currently used by the volunteer department.

In other business, the court renewed the county’s current tangible personal property tax rate at 7.3 cents per every $100 of assessed value on aircraft and exempted the tax on watercraft, inventory and transit.

The court also mandated that anybody who drives a county vehicle must provide proof of auto insurance every six months. If an employee who drives a county vehicle is involved in a vehicular accident, the employee must inform their superior of the incident within 24 hours.

The next fiscal court meeting is scheduled for 9 a.m. on Sept. 26.
