Kentucky Press News Service
The Storm Prediction Center has upgraded from moderate to high most of Kentucky's chance of seeing severe weather this afternoon.
According to the National Weather Service office in Louisville, thunderstorms that develop this afternoon will become severe. Tornadoes, damaging winds and large hail are possible. A few tornadoes could be strong and stay on the ground for long paths.
Severe weather could develop anywhere but the greatest threat will be east of Interstate 65 and south of the Blue Grass Parkway, NWS says.
The worst storms could appear between about 4 and 7 p.m. EST, the weather service said.
Light snow showers are possible early Sunday morning and again Sunday night and early Monday. This would likely be north of the I-64 corridor, NWS said. No accumulations are expected.
