• BIRTHDAY - Celebrating 92nd birthday

    Margie Stine Coulter celebrated her 92nd birthday. She was born Jan. 17, 1920. She is a housewife, has farmed all her life, still has her driver’s license and cooks every day.

    She has one son, Donnie Coulter of Willisburg; two grandsons, Dane (Kelly) Coulter of Lexington and Josh Coulter of Nicholasville; and five great-grandchildren of Lexington.

  • BIRTH - Coulter: It’s a girl!

    Brian and Brooke Coulter of Spring-field announce the birth of their daughter at 2:20 p.m. on Oct. 23, 2011 at Hardin Memorial Hospital.

    Alex Elaine Coulter weighed 7 pounds, 2 ounces and was 20 inches in length.
    She was welcomed home by a sister, Cate Taylor, 20 months.
    Maternal grandparents are John and Pam Murphy of Springfield.  
    Paternal grandparents are David and Imelda Coulter of Fredricktown.  

  • Birth - Newton: It's a girl!


    Brandon Newton and Teresa Hall announce the birth of their daughter  on Dec. 9, 2011 at Flaget Memorial Hospital in Bardstown.
    Taylan Alaya Newton weighed 7 pounds, 2 ounces and was 19.5 inches in length.
    She was welcomed home by her sisters, Kylie, 3 1/2  and Chanley, 2.
    Maternal grandparents are Randy and Betty Hall of Springfield.
    Paternal grandparents are Annelle Noel and Bill and Susan Newton of Springfield.

  • Couple celebrates 50th anniversary


    Mr. and Mrs. Ralph D. Lewis celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a surprise celebration at the Willisburg Church of God Pavilion with family and friends.
    The couple were married Dec 23, 1961. They have four sons: Lloyd and Vicki Lewis, Wayne and Heather Lewis, Greg and Teresa Lewis, and Lee Lewis; and seven grandchildren.

  • Medleys to celebrate 50th anniversary

     Dave and Linda Medley of Mt. Washington will be celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary on Dec. 30, 2011. Dave  “Pop” is originally from Springfield, Ky. and is a semi-retired accountant, who loves attending Bullitt East games. Linda  “Nana” is originally from Loretto, Ky. and enjoys being a babysitter to her grandkids.

    Donnie and Linda Staton celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Dec. 26, 2011 with friends and family at their home.
    The couple have one son, Rick (Rebecca) Staton and two grandchildren John and Marcus.

  • Smiths to celebrate 50th anniversary

    Retired Marine Corps Colonel Paul J. Smith and his wife, Norma Jean Hamilton Smith, of Loretto Road, are celebrating their golden wedding anniversary this week. The couple were married by Father Joseph Gluck at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Fredericktown on Dec. 30, 1961. Norma Jean is the daughter of well-known and respected local businessman, Paul Hamilton and his wife, Frances Mudd Hamilton, both now deceased. The Hamiltons owned and operated Kalarama Farm in Springfield.

  • Couple celebrates 65th anniversary

    Mr. and Mrs. Mitchell Burns of Mackville celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on Thanksgiving Day at a family gathering at the home of their son, Bob, in Lexington.
    Mitchell Burns and Dotty Shewmaker, high school sweethearts, were married on Thanksgiving Day on Nov. 28, 1946 by Reverend Charlie Devine. In attendance were Mr. and Mrs. Lillard Smith Jr.
    Mitchell and Dotty have five children: Larry, Martin, Alice (Gaines), Bob and Terry. They have nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

  • Cox-McDaniel

    Mr. and Mrs. James R. Cox of Louisville, announce the engagement of their daughter, Rachel Marie Cox, to John Wesley McDaniel, son of Reverend and Mrs. John McDaniel of Springfield.
    Cox is the granddaughter of Betty Douglass of East Lansing, Mich., and the late Bud Douglass and Joseph Cox of Grand Prairie, Texas, and the late Helen Cox.
    McDaniel is the grandson of Kathlyn Haefner Hare of Springfield, and the late Wesley C. Haefner, and the late Beuna Vista and John Watson McDaniel.

  • Ruley, Nalley exchange vows

    Hannah N. Ruley and Michael Scott Nalley were wed at 2 p.m. on Sept. 10, 2011 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in St. Francis, Ky.

    She is the daughter of Thomas Bruce and Rob-Ann Mattingly of Loretto, Ky.
    He is the son of James Leon Nalley II and Patricia Nalley of Springfield.
    The double ring ceremony was performed by Father Troy Overton.
