Milestones

Brandon Newton and Teresa Hall announce the birth of their daughter  on Dec. 9, 2011 at Flaget Memorial Hospital in Bardstown.
Taylan Alaya Newton weighed 7 pounds, 2 ounces and was 19.5 inches in length.
She was welcomed home by her sisters, Kylie, 3 1/2  and Chanley, 2.
Maternal grandparents are Randy and Betty Hall of Springfield.
Paternal grandparents are Annelle Noel and Bill and Susan Newton of Springfield.
 

 Dave and Linda Medley of Mt. Washington will be celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary on Dec. 30, 2011. Dave  “Pop” is originally from Springfield, Ky. and is a semi-retired accountant, who loves attending Bullitt East games. Linda  “Nana” is originally from Loretto, Ky. and enjoys being a babysitter to her grandkids.

Retired Marine Corps Colonel Paul J. Smith and his wife, Norma Jean Hamilton Smith, of Loretto Road, are celebrating their golden wedding anniversary this week. The couple were married by Father Joseph Gluck at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Fredericktown on Dec. 30, 1961. Norma Jean is the daughter of well-known and respected local businessman, Paul Hamilton and his wife, Frances Mudd Hamilton, both now deceased. The Hamiltons owned and operated Kalarama Farm in Springfield.

Mr. and Mrs. James R. Cox of Louisville, announce the engagement of their daughter, Rachel Marie Cox, to John Wesley McDaniel, son of Reverend and Mrs. John McDaniel of Springfield.
Cox is the granddaughter of Betty Douglass of East Lansing, Mich., and the late Bud Douglass and Joseph Cox of Grand Prairie, Texas, and the late Helen Cox.
McDaniel is the grandson of Kathlyn Haefner Hare of Springfield, and the late Wesley C. Haefner, and the late Beuna Vista and John Watson McDaniel.
