  • Couple celebrates 65th anniversary

    Mr. and Mrs. Mitchell Burns of Mackville celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on Thanksgiving Day at a family gathering at the home of their son, Bob, in Lexington.
    Mitchell Burns and Dotty Shewmaker, high school sweethearts, were married on Thanksgiving Day on Nov. 28, 1946 by Reverend Charlie Devine. In attendance were Mr. and Mrs. Lillard Smith Jr.
    Mitchell and Dotty have five children: Larry, Martin, Alice (Gaines), Bob and Terry. They have nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

  • Cox-McDaniel

    Mr. and Mrs. James R. Cox of Louisville, announce the engagement of their daughter, Rachel Marie Cox, to John Wesley McDaniel, son of Reverend and Mrs. John McDaniel of Springfield.
    Cox is the granddaughter of Betty Douglass of East Lansing, Mich., and the late Bud Douglass and Joseph Cox of Grand Prairie, Texas, and the late Helen Cox.
    McDaniel is the grandson of Kathlyn Haefner Hare of Springfield, and the late Wesley C. Haefner, and the late Beuna Vista and John Watson McDaniel.

  • Ruley, Nalley exchange vows


    Hannah N. Ruley and Michael Scott Nalley were wed at 2 p.m. on Sept. 10, 2011 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in St. Francis, Ky.

    She is the daughter of Thomas Bruce and Rob-Ann Mattingly of Loretto, Ky.
    He is the son of James Leon Nalley II and Patricia Nalley of Springfield.
    The double ring ceremony was performed by Father Troy Overton.

  • Bischoffs celebrate 50th anniversary


    Roger Bischoff and Suanna Wohner were married on Dec. 8, 1961 at Highview Baptist Church in Louisville.

    Roger retired from Ford Motor Company after 32 years of service and Sue is currently employed by Avis.
    They have three children, Robert, Ronald and Christopher; six grandchildren, Joshua, Jarred, Wes, Rebecca, Brittney and Lindsey; and one great-grandchild, Clair Marea.
    A celebration in their honor was held Dec. 3 by family and friends at Green Acres Baptist Church.

  • BIRTH - Abell: It’s a boy!


    Tracy and Leonard Abell of Springfield announce the birth of their son on Oct. 9, 2011 at Spring View Hospital in Lebanon.

    Keaton Michael Abell weighed 7 pounds, 13 ounces and was 19.5 inches in length.
    He was welcomed home by a sister, Raegan, age 6 and a brother, Camden, age 4.
    Maternal grandparents are Mike and Connie Colvin of Springfield.
    Paternal grandparents are Kathleen Abell of Springfield and the late Dickie Abell.

  • BIRTH - Railley: It’s a boy!


    Becky Blaine and Travis Railley of Lebanon announce the birth of their son on Nov. 19, 2011 at Spring View Hospital in Lebanon.

    Braylon Malik Railley weighed 5 pounds, 9.5 ounces and was 18 inches in length.
    Maternal grandparents are Bonnie and Gary Royalty of Springfield, and the late Douglas Blaine.
    Paternal grandparents are Gerald and Nellie Railley of Lebanon.

  • McClains to celebrate 10th anniversary

    Melody and Rusty McClain of Willisburg will celebrate their 10th wedding anniversary. They were married Dec. 1, 2001.
    They are both employed at Woodie’s Major Appliance Service. They love their family, UK basketball and fishing.
    They are the parents of Jesse James McClain of Willisburg and Emily McClain at EKU in Richmond.

  • Rucker, Hamilton marry Nov. 11

    Kara Rucker and Todd Hamilton were wed at 3:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 11, 2011 at Chapeze House in Bardstown.
    She is the daughter of June and Geri Rucker of Lebanon.
    He is the son of Nick and Sherry Hamilton of Springfield.
    The ceremony was performed by Kentucky Colonel Michael Masters.
    The bride was given in marriage by her father, June Rucker.
    Matrons of honor were the bride’s sisters, Becky Clark and Vicky Hatchel, both of Lebanon. Honorary bridesmaids were Dana Pineda, Carrie King and Kari George.

  • BIRTH - Johnson: It’s a girl!


    Brian and Amanda Johnson of Springfield announce the birth of their daughter at 11:05 p.m. on July 6, 2011 at Spring View Hospital in Lebanon.

    Abigail Rose weighed 6 pounds, 2.5 ounces and was 19.25 inches in length.
    She was welcomed home by a sister, Brianna, age 4.
    Maternal grandparents are Lee Talley of Lebanon, and the late Randy Talley.
    Paternal grandparents are David and Patsy Johnson of Springfield.

  • BIRTH - Mudd: It’s a girl!


    Nicole Byrd and Kevin Mudd of Springfield announce the birth of their daughter on July 27, 2011 at Spring View Hospital in Lebanon.

    Lakin Isabella Mudd weighed 4 pounds, 7.5 ounces and was 18 inches in length.
    Maternal grandparents are Phyllis Hutchins of Bardstown and Eddie Byrd of Willisburg.
    Paternal grandparents are Susie and Danny Smith of Springfield and John Mudd of Springfield.
