  • Ponder, Mattingly wed Sept. 24


    Tammy Jo Ponder and Joseph E. Mattingly were wed at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 24, 2011 at the couple’s home in Springfield.

    She is the daughter of James and Dorothy Ponder of Liberty and Wanda Ponder of Harrodsburg.
    He is the son of Nancy and Maurice Edelen and Joe Mattingly, all of Springfield.
    Officiating the ceremony was Hal B. Goode. She was given in marriage by her father.
    The maid of honor was Maryssa Whittaker of Harrodsburg. The bridesmaid was Charissa Gosser.

  • BIRTH - Higdon: It’s a boy!


    Jenny and John Higdon of Valley Hill Road in Mooresville announce the birth of their son, Alexander Johnathon Higdon.

    He was born on Sept. 22, 2011 at 3:55 a.m., weighed 6 pounds, 6 ounces, and was 18.5 inches long.
    Alexander was welcomed home by his siblings: Eli Joshua, age 8; Owen Andrew, age 7; and Cecilia-Ellen Johnya, age 3.
     

  • BIRTH - DeSpain: It’s a boy!


    Scott and Jill DeSpain of Loretto announce the birth of their son at 8:48 p.m. Sept. 23, 2011 at Spring View Hospital in Lebanon.

    Gavin Scott DeSpain weighed 6 pounds, 6.5 ounces and was 20 inches in length.
    Maternal grandparents are Charles and Thelma Thompson of Holy Cross.
    Paternal grandparents are Geneva Cecil of New Haven, and the late Edward DeSpain.

  • WEDDING - Graves, Montgomery united in marriage


    Erica Graves and Chris Montgomery were wed at 7 p.m. on Aug. 6, 2011 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Springfield.

    She is the daughter of Gary and Becky Graves of Bardstown.
    He is the son of David and Diane Montgomery of Bloomfield.
    The ceremony was performed by Fr. Chris Allegra.

  • WEDDING - Mattingly, Smith exchange vows in double ring ceremony


    Jenna Mattingly and Joe David Smith were wed at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, 2011 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Manton.

    She is the daughter of  Carl and Edna Mattingly of Lebanon.
    He is the son of Charlie and Linda Smith of Springfield.
    The double ring ceremony was performed by Fr. Chris Allegra.
    The bride was given in marriage by her father, Carl Mattingly and her brother, Scott Mattingly.
    The maid of honor was Sara Ruley of Bardstown, sister of the groom.

  • ANNIVERSARY - Coulters celebrate 60th anniversary


    Charles (Chig) and Betty Armstrong Coulter of Springfield celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on Sept. 24, 2011 with their family.

    They were married Sept. 29, 1951.
    They are the parents of four children, Cathy (Danny) Clarkson, Charles Rex (deceased), Kevin (Margaret) Coulter, and Kim (Joe) Miller, all of Springfield.
    They have six grandchildren, Brian Fallis, Justin (Bethany) Fallis, Emily Coulter (deceased), Abby Coulter, Claire Miller and Cole Miller; and two great-grandchildren, Browning Fallis and Erin Browning Fallis Evan.

  • ENGAGEMENT - Curtsinger-Curtsinger


    Marian L. Curtsinger and Daniel F. Curtsinger will be wed at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, 2011.

    The ceremony and reception will be held at the Willisburg Baptist Church.
    All friends and relatives are invited to attend.

  • BIRTH - Ruley: It’s a girl!


    Craig and Sara Ruley of Bardstown announce the birth of their daughter at 11:31 a.m. on July 4, 2011.

    Addalyn Elizabeth weighed 6 pounds, 8 ounces and was 18 inches long.
    Maternal grandparents are Charlie and Linda Smith of Springfield.
    Paternal grandparents are Joe and Sheila Ruley of Springfield.

  • BIRTH - Adkins: It’s a girl!


    Elizabeth McElroy and Andrew Adkins of Finley announce the birth of their daughter on July 24, 2011 at Spring View Hospital in Lebanon.

    Cheyenne Faith Adkins weighed 4 pounds, 6 ounces and was 17.5 inches in length.
    She was welcomed home by Drew, 11 years and Mya, age 10.
    Maternal grandparents are Kathy McElroy of Finley and Johnny and Teresa McElroy of Glasgow.
    Paternal grandparents are Sharon Belcher of Ashland, and the late George Adkins Sr.

  • WEDDING: Medley, Mattingly

    Jessica Marie Medley and Barton Wayne Mattingly were wed at 7 p.m. on July 9, 2011, at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Springfield.
    She is the daughter of Glen and Sandy Medley of Springfield.
    He is the son of  Mike and Cheryl Mattingly of Springfield.
    The bride is a graduate of Washington County High School and Eastern Kentucky University. She is employed as a social worker for Kentucky River Foothills.
