  • William Albert Maupin, 81

     

    William Albert “Bill” Maupin, age 81, of 5053 Springfield Road, Bardstown, died at 8:47 a.m. Monday, May 7, 2012 at Kindred Hospital in Louisville.

    Born May 24, 1930 in Marion County, he was preceded in death by his parents, Albert Lee and Mary Lucy Mattingly Maupin; four brothers, Joseph Clarence, Paul Joseph, Charles Robert and Louis Burton Maupin; a sister, Edna Mae Maupin; and a son John William “Billy” Maupin, May 10, 1986.

  • Orland Hardin, 99

     

    Orland Hardin, age 99, of Froman Lane, Springfield, passed away at 10:30 a.m., Sunday, May 6, 2012 at his home.

    A native of Washington County, he was born on Feb. 18, 1913 to the late Frank and Bessie Cocanougher Hardin.    

    He was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church, 1934 graduate of Springfield High School, a retired farmer and a former crop surveyor for the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

  • Mary Blanche Parrott, 90

     

    Mary Blanche Parrott, age 90, Mackville, widow of William Parrott, died Monday, May 7, 2012, at the Danville Center for Health.

    Survivors include two sons, Steve Parrott of Mackville and Bruce Parrott of Harrodsburg.

    Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 11 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel by Scott Vifquin.  Burial was in the Battle Cemetery, Springfield.

    Pallbearers were Blake Sims, Chaise Sims, Zachary Poe, Will Goodlett, Adam Goodlett, Alex Goodlett and Alyssa Poe.

  • Anne “Rita” Dobson, 59

     

    A Louisville resident, Anne “Rita” Dobson, age 59, passed away Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at her residence. She was the former Rita Lanham of Bardstown.

    After receiving her Masters of Education she began her teaching career with the Archdiocese of Louisville and taught for 36 years, including St. Polycarp and Holy Cross Catholic Schools. She was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church.

    She is preceded in death by her father A.D. Lanham and her sister Rose Marie Lanham.

  • Alberta Jones Christerson, 86

     

    Alberta Jones Christerson, age 86, of Lincoln Park Road, Springfield, passed away at 9 p.m., Thursday, May 10, 2012 at the Springfield Nursing & Rehab Center.


    A native of Washington County, she was born on Dec. 11, 1925 to the late Warren and Cleva Moore Jones.

    She was a member of the River of Life Church, the former owner and operator of A & K Bargains of Springfield and a homemaker.

    James Henry Brockman, 75, Bardstown, formerly of Lebanon, passed away Friday, May 11, 2012 at Veteran’s Hospital, Louisville.

  • Izaiah Rekeem Bedwell, infant

     

    Izaiah Rekeem Bedwell, 22 day old son of Kendall Smith and Christopher Wilhelm passed away at 5:20 p.m., Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at the Kosair Children’s Hospital in Louisville.

    Survivors include his mother, Kendall Smith of Springfield; his father, Christopher Wilhelm of Bardstown; maternal grandmother, Kendall Garrett of Springfield; paternal grandmother, Mary Bedwell of Bardstown; paternal great-grandmother, Sharon Cavanaugh of Cox’s Creek.

    A private service was held Monday, May 7 at Carey & Son Funeral Home.

  • Brenda V. Scruggs, 56

     

    Brenda V. Scruggs, age 56, of Frankfort, passed away at 5:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 2, 2012, at the Frankfort Regional Medical Center.

    She was born in Mason County, Ky. on Feb. 14, 1956 to William R. “Billy” and Wilma Replogle Scruggs.

    She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Frankfort, where she taught Sunday School and was a member of the church choir and the handbell choir.

  • Nora Lea Hundley Benedict, 82

     

    Nora Lea Hundley Benedict, age 82, of Walnut Street, Springfield, went to her Heavenly reward at 5 a.m., Sunday, May 6, 2012,  at the home of her daughters in Louisville.

    A native of Marion County, she was born on Dec. 5, 1929, to the late Thomas Jefferson and Wadie Caudill Hundley.

    She was a member of the Springfield Baptist Church, the Fidelis Sunday School Class, a 1948 graduate of Lebanon High School and a homemaker.

  • Emma Ruth Hill Chesser, 87

     

    Emma Ruth Hill Chesser, age 87, formerly of Murphy Lane, Bloomfield, passed away at 2:20 a.m., Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at the Life Care Center in Bardstown.

    A native of Nelson County, she was born on January 3, 1925 to the late Joe H. and Eunice Hood Hill.

    She was a homemaker and a member of the Willisburg Church Of God Of Prophecy.

    Preceding her in death were her husband, Cleo G. Chesser on Feb. 8, 2008; two daughters, Bernice Hudson and Margaret Chesser; a sister, Ethel Bobblett; and three brothers, Vernon, Carroll and David Hill.
