    Shooting sports results from the Washington County Invitational Tournament:

    9-11– second place - Matthew Cochran, third place – Hunter Tingle, also participating were Taylor Gabhart and Carter Hess
    12-14 – first place – Michael Shelton, also partipating were Bryce Hall, Anthony Hess, Austin Grubbs and Madeline Townes
    15-18 – participating was Derek Barr

  • 4-H Sharpshooters earn 18 top awards

    The Washington County 4-H Sharpshooters competed in the first invitational competition, which was sponsored by Spencer County 4-H. Over 400 4-H members from 16 counties participated. Washington County 4-H brought home 18 of the top awards presented. The next competition will be sponsored by Washington County 4-H on Saturday, June 1 at the Hahn Trap Range in Chaplin.

  • Legumes good for fescue pastures

    Pastures were slow to green-up with the cool weather this spring. However, the past few days of warm weather has really made the grass pop. We have noticed lately  that some of the timothy and bluegrass was beginning to flower. Now is a good time to be investigating pasture stands for legume content.

  • 4-H members earn awards

    Summer 4-H activities are gearing up, and for the next several months. Results from many of the 4-H competitions and events will be included in the 4-H news. Our 4-H members have worked for months preparing for the various 4-H activities, and today, the results from several of their events are included in the column.

    On May 4, members of the 4-H Young Riders traveled to Ohio County for the District 5 4-H Horse Judging and Hippology Contests. As you can see from the results, they came away with many of the top awards.

  • 4-H talent show rescheduled for Monday

    The 4-H Talent Show has been rescheduled for Monday, May 13 at 6:15 p.m. at the Mackville Community Center. The public is invited to attend the event, which will feature 4-H members in vocal, instrumental, physical skills and theatrical categories. There is an admission price. Top acts will advance to the Kentucky State Fair to perform in Cloverville in August.
