    The deadline to submit Santa Letters to The Springfield Sun is 3 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3. Photos may be submitted with letters. Make sure to include your name, age and address. Age limit for letters is 11 years old. The letters will be judged with the first-place winner receiving $15, second place receiving $10 and third receiving $5. The letters will appear in the Santa Section on Wednesday, Dec. 25.  (On news stands Dec. 24)

    Downtown Springfield will be observing Halloween “Trick or Treat” on Thursday, Oct. 31 from 4-5:30 p.m. Residential hours are from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.

    Mackville Halloween

    The city of Mackville will be observing Halloween “Trick or Treat” on Thursday, Oct. 31 from 5-7 p.m.  Participating residents will turn on a front porch light.

    4-H Yard Sale
    Items will be accepted for the 4-H yard sale beginning Thursday, Oct. 31.  No clothes please; only baby clothes will be accepted.  The yard sale will open at noon on Friday, Nov. 1 and 8 a.m. on Saturday, Nov.2.

    Kynect
    LTADD/kynect provides In Person Assisters for Kentucky’s Health Benefits Exchange.  Assistance is available for individuals and small businesses (2-50 full time employees) with questions about, or enrollment in, the health coverage offered through qualified health plans.  In Person Assisters are certified and able to provide accurate and unbiased information to help citizens understand and enroll in a health plan, IPAs will focus on understanding and meeting the needs of underserved, vulnerable and difficult to access populations.

    Mackville Christian Church Fall Revival
    The Mackville Christian Church invites you to attend the Fall Revival Oct. 6-9.  Sunday starts with a potluck lunch after service and with the revival meeting again at 6 p.m.  Monday-Wednesday revival will start at 6:30 p.m.  There will be special music, speakers each night and refreshments after each meeting.  Come meet the new minister and his family.  Please call 859-262-5266 for more information.

    WC Fair Books
    Washington County Fair Books are now available. They can be picked up at the Washington County Extension Office, several places around town or call Krista Thompson at (859) 284-5524. The Washington County Fair will be Oct. 3-5.

    WCMS Dropoff

    Washington County Middle School doors will not open until 7:30 a.m. for the 2013-14 school year. Please do not drop your children off before this time.  Students will not be permitted to enter the building until 7:30 a.m.
