Garbage pick-up prices will rise starting July 1, but could be locked in until June 30, 2014.
The current rate per month for garbage pick-up is $13.78.
According to county judge-executive John Settles, the new rate would rise to $13.99, but would do away with the fuel surcharge.
“However, in negotiations, (Rumpke) presented $14.25 and we negotiated down to this,” Settles said.
Under the current contract, the rate started at $13, but had three levels of three-percent increases built in to cover the cost of gas.

The Washington County High School Class of 2011 graduated Friday night, and  143 members crossed the stage and received diplomas at the annual ceremony. Bob Grider, son of Jerry and Inez Grider of Springfield, was named valedictorian. Naz Taylor, son of Billy and Kathy Taylor of Springfield, was salutatorian. Five students received the Commonwealth Diploma, and they were Kayla Edelen, Josie Lewis, Emily Cecconi, Charlotte Campbell and Bob Grider. Grider and Campbell were also named as National Merit Scholars.

Magisterial district lines could look different to voters when the next election rolls around.
The 2010 census has shown that the most populated district in the county is 10 percent larger than the smallest, which calls for reapportionment to balance to the districts.
County clerk Glenn Black said that two districts, those of Hal Goode and Morris Sweazy, fall below the 10 percent margin.
A committee was appointed at Friday’s regular scheduled fiscal court meeting to reapportion the districts in the county.
