The Central Kentucky Community Theater raised the curtain for the first time on Jan. 11 as “Nunsense” took the stage as the theater group’s first-ever performance.

April Reinle made her way to Lexington to compete in state junior miss competition. Reinle, who was named Washington County 2008 Junior Miss, was among 36 participants to take part in the state event. She placed in the top 10 overall, and won top honors for physical fitness.

With a shortfall of occupational taxes expected next year, the Washington County Fiscal Court is looking for ways to cut back.

“We've got to trim some budget somewhere,” said Judge/Executive John A. Settles. “Occupational taxes are one of the greatest income generators that the county has and I think we can all understand that income to the county is going to start going down.”

This Christmas is pretty much like previous Christmases for Ange Umulisa. She is used to decorating the Christmas tree and having strings of lights around the house. But this year, Christmas is different because she is not in her native country of Rwanda.

“(In Rwanda) we have the tree and the lights,” said Umulisa. “But there's no snow and it's not too cold, like here.”

Gary W. Robinson came to St. Catharine College last week as the Vice President for Finance. For 12 years Robinson had been employed at KI (USA) Corp. in Berea, the last four as President. After leaving there earlier this year he has been a professor of corporate development at Bluegrass Community and Technical College.

“With his background in manufacturing Gary will bring a different perspective here,” said St. Catharine President William D. Huston. “His work with lean manufacturing will be a benefit as well.”
