  • Thunderstorm, hail warning in effect for Washington County

     

    The National Weather Service has issued a thunderstorm warning for Washington County until 4:30 p.m. EST.

    The NWS advised that residents take cover, as the storm is capable of producing hail that could cause property damage and serious injury.

  • Significant severe weather headed for Bluegrass, Southcentral regions

    The National Weather Service office in Louisville has issued a special weather statement stressing there is a significant threat for severe and tornadic thunderstorms this afternoon and evening for Central Kentucky.

    Strong storms are expected to erupt around the I-65 corridor during the early afternoon hours - from 2-4 p.m. EST.

    These storms will produce large hail, damaging winds and some tornadoes. Some could stay on the ground for long periods.

  • Tornado watch issued for most of Kentucky until 9 p.m.

     

    A tornado watch has been issued for Washington County and 48 other counties until 9 p.m. EST, according to the National Weather Service.

  • Worst afternoon storms could be east of I-65, south of BG Parkway

    The Storm Prediction Center has upgraded from moderate to high most of Kentucky's chance of seeing severe weather this afternoon.

    According to the National Weather Service office in Louisville, thunderstorms that develop this afternoon will become severe. Tornadoes, damaging winds and large hail are possible. A few tornadoes could be strong and stay on the ground for long paths.

  • Central Kentucky's storm risk goes from moderate to high

    Although the most dangerous severe weather is expected this afternoon across much of Kentucky, nasty thunderstorms have already hit parts of the state this morning.

    Thunderstorms are now reported in Russell County, Jefferson and Grayson counties. The Grayson County storm is expected to move into Elizabethtown, Bardstown and Lebanon Junction.

  • SCC senior serves as intern in Frankfort


     Each weekday morning, Keana Crockett, a senior at St. Catharine College, begins a 114-mile daily round trip between her home in Bardstown and Frankfort to participate in a learning experience not typically offered to her on campus.

    This semester, her classrooms are the hallways, committee rooms and other environs of the Kentucky General Assembly, where Crockett is a full-time legislative intern for State Rep. Linda Belcher, a Democrat from Shepherdsville.

  • Pulitzer nominee to speak at SCC


    It’s rare when a Pulitzer Prize nominee sets foot onto your college campus.

     It’s even rarer when that nominee is also a resident of your county. Maurice Manning, a resident of the East Texas area of Washington County, will speak at St. Catharine College Wednesday, Feb. 29 at 1 p.m. in Pettus Auditorium in the Richard S. Hamilton Health and Science Building. The event is free and open to the public.
