    Kelly: It's a boy!

    Ethan Gabriel Kelly

    Sara Ashley Hughes and Evan Lloyd Kelly of Old Hickory, Tenn., announce the birth of their son on April 9 at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville, Tenn.

    Ethan Gabriel Kelly weighed 7 pounds, 15 ounces, and was 21 inches in length.

  • Two inmates injured in two-vehicle accident

    Two inmates working for the Washington County Regional Recycling Center were injured in a two-vehicle accident near the intersection of KY-555 and West Industry Drive. The accident happened at 2:48 p.m. on Thursday, April 30. Anthony Baker and Lonzo Holbrook, both inmates at the Marion County Detention Center in Lebanon, were taken to Spring View Hospital in Lebanon where they were treated and released back into custody.

  • Postage stamps increase today to 44 cents

    The Governors of the U.S. Postal Service have approved new prices for mailing services, including a 2-cent increase in the price of a First-Class Mail stamp to 44 cents. Prices for mailing services are reviewed annually and adjusted each May. The new prices go into effect today, Monday, May 11.

    Katie Filiatreau of Springfield continues to rack up academic and athletic honors at Georgetown College. She carries a 4.0 grade-point average, while also starring on the Georgetown basketball team.

  • Local horses place well at Mercer Co. horse show

    Several horses from Rolling Acres Farm & Stables in Springfield did well at the Spring Jubilee Charity Horse Show held April 16-18 at the Mercer County Fairgrounds in Harrodsburg. Silver Dollar’s Donato, owned by Robert Stannard, and trained and ridden by Rocky McCoy, won the Walking Horse Championship.

  • WCHS Alumni Baseball Game

    A Washington County High School alumni baseball game will take place at noon May 16 at Tom Bystrek Field in Idle Hour Park. All WCHS alumni are invited.

    The cost to play is $30 per person which includes a t-shirt. There will also be a cookout.

    Come out to catch up with former classmates and have a great time.

    A Wednesday night golf league at Lincoln Homestead Golf Course will start at 4:30 p.m. May 6 with an organizational meeting.

    In order to participate, you need to have a two-person team and show up for the May 6 meeting.

    The cost to play is $30 per person.
