  • Deputy case goes to grand jury

    The two former Washington County deputies who have been charged with trafficking in marijuana, as well as other charges, will see their cases go to a grand jury.

    Following a preliminary hearing in Washington County District Court Monday, Judge Robert W. Heaton decided that there was enough evidence for the cases against former deputies Wayne Bartley and Billy Mattingly to go to a grand jury, and the grand jury will then determine if the cases will go to trial.

    That is how St. Catharine College coach Lena Bramblett summed up Friday’s 57-48 win over visiting Cumberland University from Tennessee. The Patriots’ win improved Bramblett’s bunch to 2-4 for the season, while Cumberland fell to 4-2.

    Jon and Leslie Linwick of Springfield announce the birth of their daughter on Oct. 30, 2009 at Spring View Hospital in Lebanon.

    Sofia Grace weighed 7 pounds and was 19.5 inches in length.

    Two former Washington County Sheriff’s deputies found themselves on the other side of the courtroom Tuesday afternoon as they were arraigned on multiple charges, including trafficking in marijuana.

    Over the next several weeks, the results of the 4-H Forestry Leaf Collection project will be announced.  This week, the results from North Washington Elementary School are included along with the photos of the students with the top collections.
