Patriot volleyball lands defensive specialist from Murray State

Jodie Klein will come to St. Catharine College in the fall to play the libero position in volleyball. That tags her as a defensive specialist, which she showed a great propensity for last year as a freshman at Murray State University. But that is not the only skill she will bring to Jason McDannold’s Patriots for the 2013 season.

Klein was second on the Racers’ team last year in sets played. She was third on the team in digs with 227, and also third in service aces with 14.

New softball recruit as good as Gold-ey

The name of Goldey has been penciled in the line-up card of the St. Catharine College softball team for the last four years. And now, following a signing ceremony at the school on Saturday, the Goldey name will still appear each day in the lineup of Holly Smith’s Patriots.

BPW Wine and Stein Tasting is May 18

The Springfield Business & Professional Women’s Club (BPW) is finalizing plans for their 2013 upcoming 11th Annual Wine & Stein Tasting on Saturday, May 18, in downtown Springfield. The event will be outside on Cross Main Street, under an enormous tent and inside The Louisville Store Building located at 101 W. Main Street from 6:00 to 9:30 p.m.

SCC commencement: 159 earn diplomas

It was a historic year for St. Catharine College, as 159 students received diplomas on May 11 during the 81st commencement ceremony at the college.

This year two pioneer groups crossed the stage. One was a group of 11 students from Washington County High School that received an Associate of Arts from the college before they received their high school diplomas the following weekend. The group was part of the inaugural Commander College class, which is a group of students who have been taking courses at St. Catharine.
