'I didn't think I'd be here'

A small airplane made an emergency landing on a highway in northern Washington County Thursday afternoon.

A 1977 Grumman American Tiger four-seater went down around 1 p.m. on Ky. 555 near Willisburg Exit 42 of the Bluegrass Parkway.

Pilot Robert Kinion, 57, of Chester, S.C., was piloting the craft alone.

“I lost power and had to do an emergency landing,” he said. “I picked this spot and I just put it down.”

No one was injured, but the experience left the pilot shaken.
