  • Ask tough questions... then vote!

    Will you vote Nov. 4? Within 11 weeks we will have another presidential election, deciding the direction of our country and the influences it will have on the world. The U.S. Census Bureau indicates that less than 64 percent of registered voters actually voted in the 2004 election, or six out of every 10 registered voters. The numbers decrease as the elections become more intimate at the state, county and city levels. Why so few? Can our vote make a difference?

  • My Olympic rant

    I’m a sports fan, and there’s no questioning that.

    I can sit and watch any team play baseball, basketball or football, regardless of whether I have an interest in them prior to tuning in to the game. It’s just one of those things where I love to see a good contest between two teams decided on the field of play, with nothing but the skills of the individuals playing the game to decide its outcome.

  • The closing of one chapter in my life

    It’s August now, and students across the country are preparing to start school. As they start a new chapter in their life, I’m closing one of mine.

    Since May, I’ve been interning at The Lebanon Enterprise and The Springfield Sun. It’s crazy thinking back to my first day in my apartment.
