It wasn’t as easy as the first time the Patriots played Midway College, when they beat the Eagles in straight sets, but Adam Stevenson’s
Patriots still got the job done on the road Tuesday with a 3-1 victory.

“It was ugly, but it is a win,” said Stevenson whose team improved to 19-4.
The Patriots took the first set 25-21, and won the second 25-18. But Midway (4-12) edged the Patriots 25-23 in the third set,  before St. Catharine closed out the match with a 25-19 fourth set victory.

Hanover (4-7) took advantage of a loose ball in front of the goal and converted with 5:53 to go in the second overtime for a 2-1 win.
The setback left St. Catharine with a 1-6-1 record as they embark this Sunday for a game at West Virginia Tech. The next Mid-South Conference game is at home against Rio Grande on Oct. 11.

None of the conference games provide more buzz, however, than when the name Georgetown comes up on the schedule.

  • St. Catharine pounds Pioneers, 76-49

Officially it is listed as an exhibition game on the St. Catharine schedule. But the outcome of Saturday’s game at Tusculum College (Tennessee) was huge for J.T. Burton’s team.
