  • Patriot men win season opener at the buzzer

    St. Catharine College men’s basketball coach J.T. Burton knew that his season opener would be a challenge as he took his Patriots to IU-Southeast Tuesday to take on a tough Grenadiers team. The challenge became even greater when the Patriots found themselves down 21 points at halftime, and by as many as 24 in the second half.

  • SCC women hope for healthy return to winning ways

    Lena Bramblett is very accustomed to winning basketball games as the head women’s coach at St. Catharine. In her first five seasons the Patriots compiled a winning percentage of .614 (90-56). In the sixth season, 2008-2009, Bramblett endured her first losing campaign as injuries led to a 12-18 record.

  • Nationally ranked Patriots ready for tough schedule

    In his two seasons at St. Catharine College, head coach J.T. Burton has seen the best of times and the worst of times. In the Tale of Two Seasons, Burton’s bunch struggled to a 5-24 mark his first year but improved to 21-11 last season including an 8-6 Mid-South Conference record.

  • SCC volleyball falls 3-0 to Cumberlands

    The St. Catharine College volleyball team was hoping for better things in its only match of the week. The Patriots traveled to University of the Cumberlands Tuesday to play a team that they had lost in five sets to earlier in the year, after being ahead 2-0. But this time it was all Cumberlands (11-18, 7-5) as the home team won in straight sets, 25-13, 25-22, 25-18.

  • Packed house gets Patriot Madness at St. Catharine

    By all accounts the fourth rendition of Patriot Madness was a huge success. The annual event, which tips off the basketball season for the Patriot men and women, played before a full house Thursday night in Lourdes Hall.
    “Our players were really excited about it this year,” said women’s coach Lena Bramblett. “It was the best night we have had for it. The student participation was good and the community involvement was better than it ever has been.”
