    SCC Sports Information

    The St. Catharine College Patriots are off to one of the best starts in school history at 17-3. And the awards keep coming to individual players who have helped build the impressive record.

    The most recent awards came to outfielder Shane Young and pitcher Travis Adams. Young was selected as the national Player of the Week in the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) as well as the Player of the week in the Mid-South Conference. Adams also received USCAA recognition as the Pitcher of the Week.

  • Baseball, softball begin March...

    Mother Nature hasn’t been nice to Springfield so far in 2009, but that’s not going to stop the Washington County baseball and softball teams from taking the field next Monday.

    Coach Derek Schuler’s Commanders open the season March 23 on the road against North Hardin, who is coming off a 5-21 season. Washington County finished 10-18 last year, but Schuler says that if things fall into place, the Commanders could do well this year.

  • SCC softball wins seven of eight

    The St. Catharine College softball team is on a roll. Holly Smith’s nine had a busy week with eight games, coming away victorious in seven of those contests.

    “We are hitting the ball well, and when we hit the ball we play well in all other areas,” said Smith, whose team is now 9-5 for the season. “I am still shuffling a lot of players in and out to see who our hitters are and what role everyone belongs in.”

  • Rogers makes USCAA All-American...

    In their first year as a member of the Mid-South Conference, St. Catharine College was not eligible for play in the conference post-season tournament. For that reason, athletic director Mike Doig chose to enter the athletic teams in the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) for the possibility of post-season play.

  • MC youth basketball will host...

    Marion County youth basketball will be having a basketball tournament, the Spring Hoops Classic, Saturday and Sunday, Mar. 21 and 22. Any third through sixth grade team may enter. This is a boys and girls tournament.

    The tournament will be held at Lebanon Middle and Glasscock Elementary. Other locations to be decided.

    Each team is guaranteed three games with a maximum of 10 teams. The cost is $75 per team.

  • SCC athletes earn All-Conference...

    In their first year in the Mid-South Conference, St. Catharine College found themselves well represented when it came to awards at Thursday’s conference banquet in Frankfort. Erin Rogers and Arthur Latham were the big winners as they were named to the first team All-Mid-South Conference basketball teams. Other players were honored with an honorable mention and all-academic awards.

  • Tournament time for St. Dominic

    The St. Dominic sixth-grade basketball team participated in the Nelson County Middle School Tournament this past weekend. After defeating St. Joseph 30-24 and then Bardstown 38-36, the Knights took on St. Catherine on Sunday, with St. D coming up short against the Colonels, 34-21 to end their tournament run.

  • Bat Pats conference opener is...

    In a busy week of college baseball, it was very easy to pick out the highlight for the St. Catharine College Patriots. That came Wednesday when Luther Bramblett’s team traveled to Southeast Missouri State and left with an 11-9 victory. It was the first time the Bat Pats had ever faced a NCAA Division I opponent and, as sweet as the win was, Bramblett says it comes with possible repercussions.
