It was doubtful that Samantha Gehler would make much impact on the St. Catharine College volleyball season after suffering a high ankle sprain at the outset of the Patriots’ schedule. But, even though that injury sidelined the 5-9 freshman for nearly one-third of the season, Gehler was able to contribute in a big way once she hit the court.

The St. Catharine College women’s basketball team didn’t really have to travel as far as some might think to play at the University of Rio Grande last weekend. The tournament was not in the southwest U.S. but instead in southeast Ohio. But when the Lady Patriots emerged with a third place finish, head coach Lena Bramblett mostly gave her team a “muy bueno”.

The St. Catharine College soccer season is over for both the men and women of coach Paul Patton. And, although the victories weren’t as numerous as the coach would have liked, Patton is optimistic about the future of soccer at SCC.

“We knew that hew schedule would be much tougher as we moved into the NAIA and the Mid-South Conference,” said Patton. “But both of our teams were competitive against most of the teams we played.”
