Maybe that’s why they’re happy to get out on the diamond and take it out on their opponents.

    The St. Catharine College softball team has not played a game since April 25. But that does not mean that Holly Smith’s team has not been busy over the last two weeks. In addition to the practice schedule, the players have spent quite a bit of Internet time as they prepare for the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) tournament that begins today in Decatur. Ill.

    Several horses from Rolling Acres Farm & Stables in Springfield did well at the Spring Jubilee Charity Horse Show held April 16-18 at the Mercer County Fairgrounds in Harrodsburg. Silver Dollar’s Donato, owned by Robert Stannard, and trained and ridden by Rocky McCoy, won the Walking Horse Championship.

  • WCHS Alumni Baseball Game

    A Washington County High School alumni baseball game will take place at noon May 16 at Tom Bystrek Field in Idle Hour Park. All WCHS alumni are invited.

    The cost to play is $30 per person which includes a t-shirt. There will also be a cookout.

    Come out to catch up with former classmates and have a great time.

  • Wednesday Night Golf League

    A Wednesday night golf league at Lincoln Homestead Golf Course will start at 4:30 p.m. May 6 with an organizational meeting.

    In order to participate, you need to have a two-person team and show up for the May 6 meeting.

    The cost to play is $30 per person.

    The St. Catharine College Patriots are now 29-13 overall and have finished the Mid-South Conference season with a 9-9 mark. If Luther Bramblett’s club is to get to the coveted 30 victories, a milestone Bramblett has reached in six consecutive seasons after a 26-20 record in his first year at the helm, the Patriots will be relying on two factors.

  • Youth league sign-ups this...

    Sign-ups for 2009 youth leagues will take place this Saturday, April 25 at Idle Hour Park from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

    Boys and girls ages 4-6 may sign-up for t-ball, boys and girls ages 7-8 may sign-up for coach pitch and girls age 9-12 can sign-up for the softball league.

    No phone registrations will be accepted, you must register in person.

    Each participant is required to pay league dues up-front and fill out a sign-up form and permission slip.

    The cost to play is $40 for one child, $70 for two children, $90 for three children and $110 for four children.
