On July 2, Washington County pitcher Thomas Spalding pitched a four-hit complete game shutout beating South Hardin 1-0 to advance the 11-12 year-olds to the state tournament in Louisville.

Washington County's lone run came in the bottom of the third when Evan Blake Burkhead scored on a hit by Matthew Bartley.

From that point, it all rested on the right arm of Spalding, who went the distance, striking out the side in the top of the sixth inning for the win.

With a 14-3 loss to Campbellsville on July 2, the season for the 9-10 year-old Washington County Little League all-stars came to an end.

Before the first out could be recorded in the top of the first, WC pitcher Michael Chastain walked the first two Campbellsville batters he faced, then allowed a two-run double to Quentin Goodin. Addison Riney was brought in to replace Chastain.

Campbellsville added another run to go ahead 3-0.
