Washington County falls at state softball tourney

The Little League all-star season officially came to an end last week for Washington County, after the 11-12-year-old softball team was eliminated in group play at the state tournament. WC lost the first game of the tournament to Valley Sports 14-2, but bounced back for a 15-13 win over Russell-Flatwood after trailing 11-5 earlier in the game.

Bears finish Blake Hoppes play undefeated; play for title Saturday in Campbellsville

The 2010 Blake Hoppes Youth Football League wrapped up its regular season on Sunday. In action in Campbellsville, the third and fourth-grade Springfield Patriots came up short in a 14-0 loss to the Campbellsville Saints. The Pats finish their season at 2-4. The fifth and sixth-grade Springfield Bears beat the Campbellsville Bengals, 36-14. The Bears finished the regular season with a perfect 5-0 record. The Bears will play the Lebanon Raiders for the 5-6 title. The game will be played at 8 p.m. at Campbellsville University.
