Sophomore Maddie Pettus throws a pitch during the first inning of the Commanderette’s game against Elizabethtown Thursday.
Commanderettes fall to Elizabethtown in opener

The Washington County Commanderettes softball team didn’t quite get off to the start it was hoping for, losing its season opener at Elizabethtown 15-3 Thursday. The game ended after five innings.

Washington County was able to string a few good hits together and scored some runs late in the game, but a 10-run third inning by Elizabethtown put the game out of reach.

Head coach Christy Baker was disappointed to start the season with a loss against a quality team.
