  • Longtime SCC professor Terry Ward dies at 63

    Complications resulting from a heart procedure took the life of longtime St. Catharine College professor Terry Ward at Norton’s Hospital in Louisville on August 1st. Terry, 63, held numerous teaching positions and served on an untold number of committees during his 24 years of employment at St. Catharine.

    The funeral Mass for William Terry Ward was held Tuesday, August 4th at St. Augustine in Lebanon. Terry was a lifelong resident of Lebanon. He was formerly Director of Community Action in Marion County and City Administrator in Lebanon.

  • Lutz: It's a boy!

    Megan and Kevin Lutz of Cox’s Creek announce the birth of their son at 9:12 p.m. on July 21, 2008 at Baptist Hospital East in Louisville.

    James Michael Levi Lutz weighed 8 pounds, 5 ounces and was 21.5 inches in length.

    On the surface, it may look like every other football field you've ever seen. But below the surface, there have been some improvements done to Washington County High School's football field during the summer.

    During this past summer, Bennett R. Lewis Field underwent more than $13,000 worth of improvements.

  • Clements' jury trial set for Sept. 9

    Washington County School Board member Pat Clements was back in court Monday for a pretrial hearing in the case charging him with violating the county’s social host ordinance.

    Judge Amy Sullivan Anderson said Clements is scheduled to return to court for another pretrial hearing on Monday, Sept. 8, and a jury trial is set for Tuesday, Sept. 9.

    Cynda and Erick J. Anderson of Canton, Ga. announce the birth of their son at 11:38 p.m. on July 20, 2008 at Good Samaritan Health Center in Kennesaw, Ga.

    Corbin Cyrick Anderson weighed 6 pounds, 12 ounces and was 18 inches in length.

  • Russell-Yates to wed Aug. 29

    Mr. and Mrs. Joe David Russell of Springfield announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Emily Rose Russell to Jeffery Howard Yates, son of Robin Yates, and the late Jeff Yates.

    The wedding will be held Aug. 29, 2008 at Chapel Park in Gatlinburg, Tenn.

    A reception will follow at Calhoun’s.

  • Thomas-Mudd to wed Aug. 22

    Bobby and Debbi Rakes of Lebanon and Terry and Michelle Wooley of Campbellsville announce the forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Donna Wooley Thomas to Jason Bradley Mudd, son of Mike and Betty Lou Mudd of Springfield.

    The wedding will take place at 7 p.m. Aug. 22, 2008 at the Holy Trinity Parish Center in Fredericktown.

    All friends and relatives are invited to attend.

  • Commanders scrimmage, prepare for Madison Southern

    The 2008 Washington County High School Commanders football team held its annual Blue/Gold scrimmage game this past Friday. The players looked good on both sides of the ball during the intra-squad scrimmage. But that was against their own teammates, not against a rival school looking to do some damage. The Commanders are young and the schedule is tough, and the first five weeks of the season will be a trial by fire.
