Commanderettes are new district champs

-A A +A

Team captures first district title in 12 years

By Zack Penalva

From day one, the goal for the Commanderettes and head coach John Rogers was to have the team playing at its best by the time the district tournament began. Two months and 33 matches later, it’s mission accomplished. For the first time since 2006, Washington County has won the district tournament, beating out Bethlehem and Bardstown along the way. The postseason run ended when they lost 3-2 in a match to Elizabethtown in the regional tournament Monday night.
