Game highlights: The Commanders dug a first quarter hole they couldn’t get out of on Saturday against Marion County.
“They took us out of everything we wanted to do,” Commanders head coach Russell Burkhead said. “We couldn’t get the ball up the floor.”
Burkhead again praised Knights head coach Anthony Epps for the job he has done in his first year in that role.
Burkhead said he had to give it up to the team for battling and playing hard.
“I felt bad for the seniors that had to go out this way,” he said.

Burkhead said the team did a good job of executing the game plan, which was to get Purdom the ball.
“He was by far the biggest guy on the court,” Burkhead said.
Burkhead said the Commanders were up by 17 at the half and he really wanted them to make a push to close it out in the third quarter.
Nicholas County would cut the lead to nine, but the Commanders would seal the deal.

Game highlights: Washington County cut the lead to three in the third quarter, but a three- or four- minute drought would be enough fuel for the Cardinals to pull away.
