Willisburg bank robbed Friday

A bank robbery occurred in Willisburg Friday, and police are still searching for the suspect.

The Willisburg branch of Springfield State Bank was robbed just before 6 p.m. Friday evening.

According to a press release from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, the department responded to the call at approximately 5:50 p.m.

“Employees of the bank reported that an African-American male entered the bank just before closing time and produced a black bag and handwritten note advising the bank teller to place ‘small bills’ into the bag,” the report said. “The teller complied with the note’s instructions and the man left after the money was exchanged.”

The robber has not been identified, however, surveillance footage captured an African-American male wearing a white camouflage jacket, black pants, grey shoes, and sunglasses. He’s believed to be around 6 feet tall.

Surveillance cameras also captured the man fleeing the scene in a silver sedan.
