    Ruth Taylor Reed, 87, passed away at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 7, 2012 at her home on Doctor’s Street in Springfield.
    Visitation at Carey & Son Funeral Home after 4 p.m. Tuesday.
    Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. (today) Jan. 11, 2012 at the Springfield United Methodist Church.

  • Richard Kenneth ‘Dick’ Hardin Sr., 68

    Richard Kenneth  ‘Dick’ Hardin Sr., age 68, of Willisburg, passed away at 5:56 a.m., Monday, Jan. 2, 2012 at the home of his daughter in Louisville.
    A native of Washington County, he was born on Jan. 19, 1943 to the late Frank Sr. and Myrtle Vivian Burkhead Hardin.
    He was a self-employed timber logger for 25 years before having to retire due to declining health.
    Preceding him in death were two sisters, Lena Mae Milburn and Helen Moore; and a brother, William Martin Hardin.

    Ruby Satterly Barnett, age 98, of the Kirkland Community of Washington County, passed away at 11:45 a.m., Sunday, Dec. 25, 2011 at the Heritage Hall Care Center in Lawrenceburg.

    She was a native of Washington County, born on March 16, 1913 to the late W.O. and Lora Dennis Satterly.
    She was a member of the Antioch Christian Church, a homemaker and a graduate of Fairview High School in Mercer County.

    Johnnie  Peavler, 77, died Saturday, Dec. 24, 2011 at his residence. He was born Nov. 2, 1934 in Tatum Springs, Ky.

    He was a retired Local 181 Heavy Equipment Operator, a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Tatum Springs, the American Rifle Assoc. and a former member of Sharpsville Masonic Lodge #688.

    A Bloomfield resident, Carolyn Hood, age 71, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 29, 2011 at her residence. 

    She was the former Carolyn Murphy, a native of Nelson County, a retired employee of General Electric with 31 years of service, a member of the Bloomfield Baptist Church, where she also served on the Bereavement Committee. She was a graduate from the Bloomfield High School class of 1959. 
    She was the daughter of the late Roy and Essie Chesser Murphy and was preceded in death by a nephew, Danny Hood.
