• Harry Lee Spalding, 73

    Harry Lee Spalding, age 73, of McLain Road, Springfield, passed away at 10 a.m., Friday, March 11, 2011, at his home.
    A native of Washington County, he was born on July 22, 1937, to the late Earl and Gertrude Montgomery Spalding.
    He was a member of the St. Rose Catholic Church and a retired farmer.
    Preceding him in death were a son, William Lee Spalding; a sister, Geraldine Edelen; and three brothers, Jim, Joseph Earl and Charles F. Spalding.

  • Mary Lynette Norris, 46

    Mary Lynnette Norris, age 46, of Lebanon, passed away Thursday, March 10, 2011, at her residence.
    Her parents were the late James Floyd “Jimmy” and Barbara Robey Nalley.
    Survivors include her husband, Louis Norris; her son, Travis Jennette of Holy Cross; her daughter, Whitney Jennette at home; five stepchildren, Tina Blanford of Springfield, Jimmy Norris of Lebanon, Janice Chesser of Lebanon, LaToya Norris of Springfield and Jordan Norris of Holy Cross.

  • Francis A. "Frank" Hill, 87

    Francis A. “Frank” Hill, age 87, of Brush Grove Road, Willisburg passed away at 12:20 a.m., Monday, March 7, 2011, at the Life Care Center in Bardstown.
    A native of Nelson County, he was born on Feb. 27, 1924, to the late Marion and Edith Taylor Hill.    
    Survivors include a daughter, Regina Keifer of Vine Grove; two stepsons, Gerald Hood and  Ed Hood; and two stepdaughters, Mae Thompson and Carol Royalty, all of Willisburg.

  • Randall J. Burns, 89

    Randall J. Burns, age 89, of the Cardwell Community of Washington County, passed away at 7 a.m., Sunday, March 13, 2011, at his home.
    A native of Washington County, he was born on Sept. 21, 1921, to the late Reco and Lillie Warner Burns.
    He was a member of the Mt. Freedom Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, a 1940 graduate of Mackville High School, and he and his wife owned and operated the Randall Burns Grocery in the Cardwell Community for 50 years.
    Preceding him in death were a brother, Verlin Burns and a sister, Velma Young.

  • Kathy Ellen Duke Newton, 60

    Kathy Ellen Duke Newton, 60, of Springfield, passed away Sunday, March 6, 2011 at her residence.
    She was born Nov. 18, 1950, in Grayson County, Ky., the daughter of Carolyn Elizabeth (Embry) and Lambert Duke.
    She was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters, Carolyn Embry, Inez Hampton, Karen Kay Duke and Reva Webb; and one brother, Leslie Duke.

  • Barbara Ann Linton, 45

    Barbara Ann Linton, age 45, of College Street, Lebanon, passed away at 3:58 a.m., Sunday, March 6, 2011, at Spring View Hospital in Lebanon.
    She was born in Lebanon, Ky., on July 14, 1965, to the late Leon and Lucille Hodgens Linton.
    She was a member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, a 1984 graduate of Washington County High School and an employee of INOAC Group of Springfield.
    Preceding her in death was her brother, Andrew Linton on Feb. 22, 2008.

  • Fred Benham, 85

    Fred Benham, age 85, of 2725 Hardesty Rd., Springfield, died at 3:18 p.m. Friday, March 4, 2011, at U of L Hospital in Louisville after an auto accident in Spencer County.
    Born Sept. 8, 1925, in Washington Co., he was preceded in death by his parents, James Alfred and Katie Belle Breeding Benham; his wife, Nancy Lewis Benham on Aug. 31, 2008; a son, Fred Keith Benham on Dec. 29, 2007; and a granddaughter, Dwyna Lewis in 1986.
    He was a retired farmer and a member of Mt. Zion Methodist Church.

  • Mary Louise Donnelly Bradshaw, 88

    Mary Louise Donnelly Bradshaw, age 88, of 218 McCord St., Springfield, died at 8:53 p.m. Wednesday, March 2, 2011, at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington.
    Born Sept. 1, 1922, in Springfield, she was preceded in death by her parents, John and Lillie Mudd Donnelly and a brother, James “Jack” Donnelly.
    She was a former employee of Cowden Mfg. Co. in Springfield, a homemaker and a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church.

  • Dalton Wells Young, 85

    Dalton Wells Young, age 85, of Gravel Switch, passed away at 10 a.m., Thursday, March 3, 2011, at Spring View Hospital in Lebanon.
    Survivors include his wife, Louise Lanham Young and a son, Danny Young of Campbellsville.
    Funeral services were held at 1 p.m., Saturday, March 5 at Beech Grove Baptist Church, with Rev. Bobby Estes, the church pastor, officiating.
    Burial was in the Hillcrest Cemetery at Perryville.
    Serving as pallbearers were Tommy Glasscock, Ed Lanham, Pat Hourigan, Leonard Richardson, Sterling Young and Howard Shearer.
