  • Rosa Lee Pope Burton, 96

     

    Rosa Lee Pope Burton, age 96, of Washington Avenue, Springfield, passed away at 8:45 p.m., Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at the Springfield Nursing & Rehab Center.

    A native of Boyle County, she was born on Feb. 20, 1916 to the late John Willis and Etta Lee Bottoms Pope.

    She was a member of the First Baptist Church, a homemaker, a former employee of the Springfield Redrying Company, attended the Bate High School in Danville, a former member of the Progressive Homemakers Club and a member of the Ladies Auxillary Post # 247 American Legion.

  • Mary Jane Osbourn O’Bryan, 78

     

    Mary Jane Osbourn O’Bryan, age 78, of 300 Lincoln Park Road, Springfield, formerly of the Botland community, died at 9:23 p.m. Monday, June 4, 2012 at Norton Hospital in Louisville.

    Born July 28, 1933 in Washington County, she was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Albert “Bunk” and Mary Angela Smith Osbourn; her husband, Joseph Maurice O’Bryan, Oct. 20, 2000; three brothers, Leo, Jack and Dickie Osbourn; and two sisters, Nora Ann and Betty Lou Osbourn.

    Miller Pierson of Willisburg passed away Monday, June 11, 2012 at his home. A complete obituary will be in next week’s edition of The Springfield Sun.

  • William Edward Hardin, 71

     

    William Edward Hardin, age 71, of Whitehall Road, Mackville, passed away at 12:56 p.m., Saturday, May 26, 2012 at the Spring View Hospital in Lebanon.

    A native of Washington County, he was born on Sept. 22, 1940 to the late James Russell and Juanita Sagracy Hardin.

    He was a 1960 graduate of Mackville High School, a farmer and the owner of Hardin’s Nurse Mares.

    Preceding him in death was a daughter, Michelle Thompson; a sister, Anna Ruth Pruyear; and a brother, James Hardin.

  • H.T. Lewis, 72

     

    H.T. Lewis, age 72, of Willisburg, passed away at 11 p.m., Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at his home.

    A native of Washington County, he was born on April 13, 1940 to the late Herbert and Ruby Chesser Lewis.

    He was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Anderson County, where he served as a deacon, a farmer and a retired employee of the State Highway Department.

    Preceding him in death were his wife of 53 years, Carol Cornish Lewis on May 29,2012 and a son, Terry Lynn Lewis in 1965.

  • Artis Louis Fogle, 74

     

    Artis Louis Fogle, age 74, of Commercial Avenue, Springfield, passed away at 7:05 p.m., Sunday, May 27, 2012 at his residence after an illness.

    He was born in Boyle County on Dec. 25, 1937 to John and Margaret Young Fogle.

    He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and a retired employee of the Ball Brothers Oil Company.

  • Albert Jeffries, 70

     

    Albert Jeffries, 70, of Mackville, died May 10, 2012.

    He was born May 28, 1941.

    Survivors include his wife, Lynda Jeffries of Mackville; four children; seven stepchildren; 38 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

  • Parthenia Roller Daugherty, 80

     

    Parthenia Roller Daugherty, 80, Lebanon, passed away Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at the Village of Lebanon Nursing Center.

    She was born on Feb. 29, 1932 in Lebanon Junction. Daugherty was a retired teacher, having worked in the Marion County Board of Education 42 years, and a member of the Powell Chapter of the Eastern Star.

    She was preceded in death by her parents, James Blain and Linnie Mae Dobson Roller; a sister, Eva Rose Clarkson; and three brothers, Nathan, Otis, and James Raymond Roller.

  • Joe Floyd Young, 70

    Joe Floyd Young, 70, of Perryville died Saturday, May 26, 2012 in Danville. 

    He was the son of the Ruby Arnold Young of Gravel Switch, and the late Ralph Young.

    Thomas Walter Clements, age 72, of 5294 Bardstown Road, Springfield, died at 10:26 a.m. Monday, May 21, 2012 at his residence.
