  • Philip Leo Luckett Sr., 61

     

    Philip Leo Luckett Sr., 61,  of Versailles, husband of the late Elizabeth “Betty” Gardner Luckett, died Saturday, April 28, 2012, at his home in Versailles.

    He was the son of the late William Eugene and Elizabeth Florine Abell Luckett.  

    He is survived by three sons, Philip Leo Luckett Jr. and Matthew Ryan Luckett M.D., both of Lexington and Michael William Luckett of Versailles.

  • Edith Humes Pinkston, 89

     

    Edith Humes Pinkston, age 89, of Main Street, Willisburg, passed away at 12:20 p.m., Friday, April 27, 2012 at Norton Healthcare Pavilion in Louisville.

    A native of Washington County, she was born on June 1, 1922 to the late Ruben and Annie Smith Humes.

    She was a member of Fairview Christian Church and a homemaker.

    Preceding her in death were her husband, Bernice Pinkston on January 2, 1998, a half-brother and two half-sisters.

  • Hadgie Lee Sparrow, 78

     

    Hadgie Lee Lewis Sparrow, age 78, of Texas Road, Springfield, passed away at 2:45 p.m. Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at Spring View Hospital in Lebanon.

    A native of Washington County, she was born on January 8, 1934 to the late Dee and Ruby Smith Lewis.

    She was a member of the Cornerstone Christian Church and a homemaker.

    Preceding her in death were her husband, James B. Sparrow on November 24, 2001; three grandchildren, Richie Lewis, Rachel Lewis and William Ray Byrd; and two brothers, Charles D. Lewis and Lonnie Lewis.

  • Mary Maxine Nalley, 64

     

    Mary Maxine Nalley, age 64, of Loretto, died Monday, April 23, 2012 from injuries sustained in an auto accident near Loretto.

    She was preceded in death by her parents, William Kelly Bradshaw, Sr. and Agnes Callista McCauley Bradshaw. 

    Survivors include her husband of 45 years, Billy Joe Nalley; two daughters, Gina Nalley of Gravel Switch and Melissa “Mousey” Nalley of Loretto; and one son, Hank Nalley of St. Joe.

    Mattie Frances Lanham Hatchett, age 83, of Perryville Loop Road, Springfield, passed away at 4:36 a.m., Monday, April 16, 2012 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.

    Donald Larry McCarty, age 66, of Fairfield Road, Cox’s Creek, passed away at 8:31 p.m. Saturday, April 21, 2012 at Flaget Memorial Hospital in Bardstown.

  • Thomas Joseph Young, 97

     

    Thomas Joseph Young, age 97, of Springfield, died at 10:45 a.m. Sunday, April 22, 2012 at Springfield Nursing & Rehab Center. 

    Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday (today) at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, with burial in St. Dominic-Holy Rosary Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church from 9:30 a.m. Wednesday until time of service. A complete obituary will be in next week’s Springfield Sun.

    Hadgie Lee Lewis Sparrow, age 78, of Texas Road, Springfield, passed away at 2:45 p.m. Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at Spring View Hospital in Lebanon.

    Thomas E. “Chip” Johnson Jr., age 52, passed away on Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at Meriter Hospital in Madison, Wis. 

  • Sister Thomasella Sheehy, 80

     

    Dominican Sister of Peace Thomasella Sheehy, 80, a native of Saint Paul, Neb., died on April 12, 2012, at Spring View Hospital in Lebanon, Kentucky.


    Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 17 at Sansbury Care Center Chapel.
    Burial was at St. Catharine Motherhouse Cemetery.
