  • Severe weather expected for Central Kentucky

    According to the National Weather Service (NWS), a significant severe weather outbreak is expected across much of Central Kentucky this afternoon and evening.

  • Central Kentucky's storm risk goes from moderate to high

    Although the most dangerous severe weather is expected this afternoon across much of Kentucky, nasty thunderstorms have already hit parts of the state this morning.

    Thunderstorms are now reported in Russell County, Jefferson and Grayson counties. The Grayson County storm is expected to move into Elizabethtown, Bardstown and Lebanon Junction.

  • SCC senior serves as intern in Frankfort


     Each weekday morning, Keana Crockett, a senior at St. Catharine College, begins a 114-mile daily round trip between her home in Bardstown and Frankfort to participate in a learning experience not typically offered to her on campus.

    This semester, her classrooms are the hallways, committee rooms and other environs of the Kentucky General Assembly, where Crockett is a full-time legislative intern for State Rep. Linda Belcher, a Democrat from Shepherdsville.

  • Pulitzer nominee to speak at SCC


    It’s rare when a Pulitzer Prize nominee sets foot onto your college campus.

     It’s even rarer when that nominee is also a resident of your county. Maurice Manning, a resident of the East Texas area of Washington County, will speak at St. Catharine College Wednesday, Feb. 29 at 1 p.m. in Pettus Auditorium in the Richard S. Hamilton Health and Science Building. The event is free and open to the public.

  • BIRTH - Fletcher: Twin boys!


    Amy Jo and Jerimy Fletcher of Springfield announce the birth of their twin sons on Jan. 4, 2012 at Spring View Hospital in Lebanon.

    Jaxon Abel Fletcher weighed 6 pounds, 12 ounces and Jagger Michael Fletcher weighed 6 pounds, 3 ounces.
    They were welcomed home by Dalton Hutchins, age 15 and Hannah Fletcher, age 13.
    Maternal grandparents are Bernice Lanham and Larry and Gerry Wheatley, all of Springfield.
    Paternal grandparents are the late James Fletcher, and David and Karen Downs of Bardstown.

  • BIRTH - Bell: It’s a boy!


    Sara Craven and John Bell of Louisville announce the birth of their son at 4:44 a.m. Oct. 28, 2011 at Norton Suburban Hospital in Louisville.

    Sutherland Robert Bell weighed 4 pounds, 15 ounces and was 17 inches in length.
    Maternal grandparents are Mark and Susan Koester of Springfield and Donnie Craven of Louisville.
    Paternal grandparents are the late Robert and Theresa Bell.

    Rudolph Carey, Springfield, celebrated his 97th birthday on Feb. 10, 2012, with a dinner given by his family.

    Avery Adams is having his first actual birthday today, Leap Day, Feb. 29.

    He is now four-years-old and celebrated his birthday Saturday, Feb. 25, 2012 at Go Go Gorilla’s Fun Center in Danville with family and friends.
    He is the son of Bill and Beth Adams of Lebanon, brother of Camden Adams, and the grandson of Charles and Mary Jean Jeffries of Lebanon and Lula Mae Adams of Springfield.
