    Erica Graves and Chris Montgomery were wed at 7 p.m. on Aug. 6, 2011 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Springfield.

    She is the daughter of Gary and Becky Graves of Bardstown.
    He is the son of David and Diane Montgomery of Bloomfield.
    The ceremony was performed by Fr. Chris Allegra.

  • WEDDING - Mattingly, Smith exchange vows in double ring ceremony

    Jenna Mattingly and Joe David Smith were wed at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, 2011 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Manton.

    She is the daughter of  Carl and Edna Mattingly of Lebanon.
    He is the son of Charlie and Linda Smith of Springfield.
    The double ring ceremony was performed by Fr. Chris Allegra.
    The bride was given in marriage by her father, Carl Mattingly and her brother, Scott Mattingly.
    The maid of honor was Sara Ruley of Bardstown, sister of the groom.

  • ANNIVERSARY - Coulters celebrate 60th anniversary

    Charles (Chig) and Betty Armstrong Coulter of Springfield celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on Sept. 24, 2011 with their family.

    They were married Sept. 29, 1951.
    They are the parents of four children, Cathy (Danny) Clarkson, Charles Rex (deceased), Kevin (Margaret) Coulter, and Kim (Joe) Miller, all of Springfield.
    They have six grandchildren, Brian Fallis, Justin (Bethany) Fallis, Emily Coulter (deceased), Abby Coulter, Claire Miller and Cole Miller; and two great-grandchildren, Browning Fallis and Erin Browning Fallis Evan.

    Marian L. Curtsinger and Daniel F. Curtsinger will be wed at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, 2011.

    The ceremony and reception will be held at the Willisburg Baptist Church.

  • BIRTH - Ruley: It’s a girl!

    Craig and Sara Ruley of Bardstown announce the birth of their daughter at 11:31 a.m. on July 4, 2011.

    Addalyn Elizabeth weighed 6 pounds, 8 ounces and was 18 inches long.
    Maternal grandparents are Charlie and Linda Smith of Springfield.
    Paternal grandparents are Joe and Sheila Ruley of Springfield.

  • BIRTH - Adkins: It’s a girl!

    Elizabeth McElroy and Andrew Adkins of Finley announce the birth of their daughter on July 24, 2011 at Spring View Hospital in Lebanon.

    Cheyenne Faith Adkins weighed 4 pounds, 6 ounces and was 17.5 inches in length.
    She was welcomed home by Drew, 11 years and Mya, age 10.
    Maternal grandparents are Kathy McElroy of Finley and Johnny and Teresa McElroy of Glasgow.
    Paternal grandparents are Sharon Belcher of Ashland, and the late George Adkins Sr.

  • School board to present new high school exteriors to the public Thursday

    A special-called meeting of the Washington County Board of Education will be held from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 29 at central office.

    An item to be discussed on the agenda is the review of a compilation of exteriors of the new high school.

    Public attendance and feedback about the exteriors is encouraged.

  • SCC golfers fare well at Campbellsville; Darby makes all-tourney team

    The St. Catharine men’s golf team finished third Tuesday in the 36-hole Campbellsville University Invitational played  at  Campbellsville Country Club.

  • SCC splits two games in men’s soccer; Woods nets a hat trick

    In college soccer action last week, the St. Catharine men split a pair of non-conference games at home.

    On Tuesday, Tim Wolz’ Patriots fell 2-1 to Trevecca Nazarene University, but Saturday they bounced back for their first win of the season with a 3-0 victory over Ohio Christian University.
    The 1-1 week left the Patriots with an overall 1-4-1 record.
    They returned to Mid-South Conference play Monday night with a game at the University of the Cumberlands.

  • SCC camp at Dean Watts on Oct. 11

    The St. Catharine College baseball staff will be hosting a baseball skills camp at Dean Watts Park in Bardstown Oct. 11 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
    The camp is for players ages six to 18.

    Campers will be given instruction in hitting, fielding, throwing and base running.
    The Patriot coaching staff and current players will be working individual stations, so each player will get ample attention.
    The pre-registration deadline is Oct. 4, but walk-up registration will also be available the day of the camp starting at 8 a.m.
