  • Hold the salt! Be careful when applying de-icer

    With the recent cold and snowy weather, it is time to discuss protecting landscapes from unintentional harm.  If you like to put salt and deicer on your sidewalks, drives, and steps, you must take care not to damage valuable landscape plants.  Generally, physical removal of ice and snow is better for the landscape as long as you don’t pile it on your plants.  However, many people aren’t physically able to shovel snow and ice.  In this case, chemicals are needed to keep walkways safe.

  • BIRTH: Harris: It's a girl!

    Patricia Harris and Wayne Harris of Elkhorn announce the birth of their daughter on Nov. 23, 2010 at Spring View Hospital in Lebanon.
    Katherine Alice Harris weighed 4 pounds, 7 ounces and was 17.5 inches in length.
    She was welcomed home by a sister, Gabrielle England, age 8.
    Maternal grandparents are Joe Mayberry and Kathy Thompson of Wisconsin.
    Paternal grandparents are Barbra and Bobby Curry of Campbellsville, and the late Martin Harris.

  • WEDDING: Isham, Brown exchange vows

    Barbara “Barbie” Daye Isham and Michael “Mike” Wayne Brown were wed on March 20, 2010 at New Harmony Baptist Church in Mackville.
    She is the daughter of Jeffrey and Tammy Isham of Mackville.
    He is the son of Mike and Melissa Brown and Paula Brown of Harrodsburg.
    Bro. Barry officiated.
    The maid of honor was Ashley Hagan of Mackville. Bridesmaids were Lyndi Hagan of Campbellsville, Lisa Harrison of Burgin and Robin Jones of Harrodsburg. Serving as flower girls were RaiLee Hagan and MicKinley Jones.

  • Local citizens help WC Holiday Assistance Program


    Christmas is a magical time in the lives of most children, but some face the holidays without the basic things they need in life. That’s where the Washington County Holiday Assistance Program comes into play.
    Formerly known as the Angel Tree Program, the WCHAP’s mission is to provide toys, as well as essential items for life to the less fortunate children of the community. At last count, the program planned to serve 86 families with a total of 238 children this year.
