Living with autism

Nick Schrager

“They say lightning doesn’t strike twice. Yes, it does, in the same spot.”

Those are the words of Christy Key, the mother of JaDeyen (J.D.), 13, and Onesti Short, 3, who both have autism.

J.D. goes to Washington County Middle School and Onesti attends the preschool in Springflied for speech. Their father is Maurice Short and they have an older sister, LaDymon Key, who is a senior at Washington County High School.
